The new LEED certified Oak Street West Residence Hall offers a renewed resolve toward enhancing residential life for UMKC students through a true living-learning environment. Housing 328 beds, the 4-story residence hall features two wings of semi-suite, double and single occupancy rooms connected by a glass enclosed corridor. Each wing features a large multipurpose room, private study areas, a lounge and entertainment room, and a community kitchen. Three secured rooms are also available for music practice.

The HVAC system for this LEED Certified complex consists of water-source heat pumps, dedicated outdoor air heat pumps, energy recovery ventilators, cooling towers, circulation pumps and high efficiency natural gas loop-heating boilers.
